Director: Jochen Alexander Freydank
Germany 2014, 103 min., original version
With Axel Prahl, Josef Hader, Kristina Klebe, Devid Striesow and others.
The film tells the story of a man's „transformation“ in a rapidly changing and increasingly isolated and antisocial world. A man who seems to have achieved everything has made himself at home in his building, a fortress-like residential complex. But as much as he wants to ignore it, the world is out there. They will come. They want him, they want to share in his prosperity ...
The first cinematic realisation of the unfinished story about an animal that tries to protect its labyrinthine burrow in an increasingly paranoid manner shows isolation, fear and loneliness in our time. The film has been nominated and awarded several times, including for Best Production Design by the Neisse Film Festival and the Film Art Prize of the Ludwigshafen am Rhein German Film Festival.
Tanja Krombach, German Cultural Forum for Eastern Europe, will hold a discussion with director Jochen Alexander Freydank prior to the film.
The film series is organised by the German Cultural Forum for Eastern Europe, the Bundesplatz-Kino Berlin and the Czech Centre Berlin.
