1924KAFKA2024 – NOW AND THEN: A series of stories in Prague and Berlin
Did Franz Kafka grow up sheltered, with plenty of care under the care of loving parents?
Or full of neglect and insecurity in a noisy household?
And was his father really as tyrannical as many claim?
In precisely illustrated and entertaining stories, Kafka aficionado Przemek Schreck presents a coherent picture of Kafka's childhood and youth, shows a wavering young man who is nevertheless full of magic, and ultimately describes why Kafka could never have become anything other than what he was.
We follow the still young Kafka family as they move around countless times and the father in his ruthless pursuit of economic and social prestige.
Kafka grew up „alone among many people“ in the rapid maelstrom of these events, where his belief in the stability of human relationships increasingly faded. It was here that he also became the masterful observer we know - of everything and everyone.
In the informal café atmosphere that Kafka loved best, „Die Erzählerei“ invites young and old, connoisseurs and newcomers. Przemek Schreck tells the story in a plausible, vivid and lively way and brings the shy, always friendly smiling Prague man into our present for a few moments.
The event will be held in German with simultaneous translation into Czech.
