Kafka as a comic? In the centenary year of the Prague writer's death, Anna Beckmann devotes herself to some of the numerous international comics on Franz Kafka. The illustrators go far beyond illustrations: works of art with independent interpretations such as the works of Corbeyran/Horne, Crumb/Mairowitz, Kuper, Ricard/Mael and Stetter are at the centre of this poetic coffee break!
Anna Beckmann's dissertation deals with „Inszenierungen narrativer Unzuverlässigkeit im Comic“ (Stagings of Narrative Unreliability in Comics). In 2023 she received the Martin Schüwer Publication Prize for outstanding comics research.
