Stage adaptation by Karin Henkel and Rita Thiele based on the novel of the same name by Franz Kafka
Karin Henkel, one of the most renowned directors in the German-speaking world, stages Kafka's novel fragment, published posthumously in 1926: a stranger named K. enters a village inn. He is told that no one is allowed to stay there without permission from the castle authorities. K. then identifies himself as a surveyor appointed by the castle and involuntarily gets caught up in the castle's dubious and non-transparent administrative apparatus. In order to clarify the legitimacy of his presence and obligations, K. tries in vain to make an appearance there himself.
