Program
The travelling panel exhibition will present a total of 39 places significantly connected with the life and work of Franz Kafka. One third of the panels are dedicated to Prague, one third to other places in the Czech lands and one third to places in other European countries (e.g. the place of his death – Kierling near Klosterneuburg). The use of period photographs is also unique, presenting the place as Franz Kafka saw and experienced it. The photographs are accompanied by a short description of the place and a relevant quote from Kafka's work.
On Thursday 19 September at 18.00, there will be an accompanying event „Was Kafka in Krumlov?“, which will offer a unique presentation of Thomas Samhaber's book „Meeting on the Border“, which deals with the meeting of Franz Kafka and Milena Jesenska in Gmünd / České Velenice in 1920. The book will be presented by the author himself. The curator of the exhibition, Gabriela Kalinová, will then present other places where Franz Kafka stayed in Bohemia and abroad. The programme will be complemented by a performance of the group „Lakomá Barka“.
