Program
The reading presents the book „Life after Kafka“ by the Czech writer Magdaléna Platzová, who lives in France. In it, Platzová takes a literary look at the fate of Felice Marasse (née Bauer), Franz Kafka's former fiancée, who managed to escape persecution and deportation by emigrating to Switzerland and the USA, and her friend Grete Bloch, who was interned in Italy during the Second World War and later murdered in Auschwitz. Following in Felice's footsteps, the narrator meets Felice's descendants in the USA, whose story she transforms into a literary representation of the post-memory generation.
The event is organized by the Bohemicum – Center for Czech Studies at the University of Regensburg in cooperation with the Jewish Community and the Evangelisches Bildungswerk Regensburg.
