Program
I have never been in this place before: A Kafka festival in Cottbus with readings, lectures, films, workshops, youth projects and a concert by the KAFKA BAND
Glad-House Cottbus is organizing nothing less than Germany's only Kafka festival in the commemorative year 2024 on the 100th anniversary of Kafka's death. Cottbus, the „boomtown“ of Lusatia, becomes „booktown“ with just one other letter. It can't be a coincidence that this letter is K of all things ...
The ambiguous text line I HAVE NEVER BENN IN THIS PLACE BEFORE: from one of his aphorisms is the festival title and an open invitation to a journey into the world of the world author Franz Kafka, born in Prague in 1883.
Festival guests include Matthias Brenner, Amadeus Gollner, David Z. Mairowitz, Jaroslav Rudiš, Dr. Reiner Stach, Jaromír Švejdík – and of course Franz Kafka.
I have never been in this place before: breathing works differently,
and a star shines next to the sun, more dazzlingly still.
Franz Kafka (1883 – 1924)
Aphorismus No. 17, noted on November 7 or 8, 1917
We would like to say THANK YOU
We would like to express our gratitude to Sparkasse Spree-Neiße for their generous support of the project.
And what else ...
The Kafka Festival 2024 is a joint project of Glad-House Cottbus and the Glad-House Friends' Association.
The graphic design for the festival was created by Czech comic artist Jaromír 99.
Thanks to a cooperation with the bookstore Almut Winter (Berlin), we have a well-stocked book table at every event.
