Program
To mark the 100th anniversary of Franz Kafka's death, we are presenting an exhibition of around 130 photographs of the Kafka family, for the first time in this compilation, including many previously unpublished ones.
The photographs show a writer of world literature and his relatives, they tell of Jewish emancipation and social advancement. The exhibition juxtaposes the photographs with quotes from Kafka and his relatives and shows that the cohesion of the Kafka family was stronger than some of the author's statements suggest.
The curator of the exhibition is Hans-Gerd Koch, literary scholar and co-editor of the Critical Kafka Edition. To accompany the exhibition, the publisher house Klaus Wagenbach has published the volume Kafka's Family. A Photo Album.
