La storia del turismo salutistico
Franz Kafka, the „civil servant from Prague“, came to Merano in 1920 as a spa guest suffering from tuberculosis. After the lethargy caused by the war, the town came back to life in the early 1920s: Hotels and sanatoriums reopened their doors, the cheerful tunes of the spa orchestra could be heard on the promenade, exquisite entertainment was offered in the town theater and spa house, and enterprising spa doctors marketed themselves and their therapies. During an excursion, you will get to know Merano's spa culture from Kafka's perspective. The tour also includes the opening of a Kafka exhibition in the station underpass.

Franz Kafka giunse a Merano nel 1920. Il vacanziero proveniente da Praga era gravemente malato: soffriva, infatti, di tubercolosi. Proprio in quel periodo la cittadina - che prima della Grande Guerra era stata una celebre località di soggiorno curativo - si ridestò dal torpore: alberghi e sanatori riaprirono i battenti, le spensierate melodie di Strauss riecheggiarono di nuovo sulle passeggiate in riva al Passirio, il Teatro civico e il Kurhaus offriro -no eleganti intrattenimenti per un’esigente clientela, intraprendenti medici pubblicizzarono le proprie panacee contro ogni male. La visita guidata ripercorrerà la storia del turismo salutistico di Merano. Durante l’escursione verrà inoltre inaugurata una mostra su Kafka nel sottopassaggio della stazione ferroviaria.
