As a former spa town of international renown, Merano has many hotels where Europe's nobility stayed, as well as bankers, artists and writers. In the spring of 1920, Franz Kafka stayed for a short time in a grand hotel near the train station. Such luxury hotels were prestigiously designed, had the latest technical facilities and offered their guests many amenities for convalescence and relaxation. Today, together with the large parks and promenades, they are part of Merano's special historical ensemble. During the tour of the former hotels „Emma“, „Bellevue“, „Kaiserhof“ and „Savoy“, you can trace the splendor of earlier days, follow the changing fortunes of the houses and observe their „transformation“ into schools.

Come stazione di soggiorni curativi di fama internazionale, Merano conta ancora oggi molti alberghi in cui soggiornarono nobili, banchieri, artisti e scrittori. Nella primavera del 1920 Franz Kafka trascorse un breve periodo in un grand hotel situato nei pressi della stazione ferroviaria. Questi hotel di lusso avevano un design prestigioso, erano dotati delle più moderne attrezzature tecniche e offrivano ai loro ospiti molti agi per la convalescenza e il relax. Oggi, insieme ai grandi parchi e alle passeggiate, fanno parte del particolare ensemble storico- urbanistico di Merano. Durante le visite agli ex alberghi “Emma”, “Bellevue”, “Kaiserhof” e “Savoy” si può ripercorrere lo splendore della belle époque, seguire le alterne vicende degli edifici e conoscere infine la loro ‘metamorfosi’ in scuole.
